Margarita Loeza, MD MPH, is the Chief Medical Information Officer
at Venice Family Clinic, Vice President of Alliance in Mentorship
Board that supports MiMentor, and is also on the Latinx Physicians
of California Board of Directors, serving as the Latinx Legacy
Roundtable Leader on the Board’s Executive Committee. She
knows the value of mentorship having successfully graduated
from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine;
then completed a Family Medicine Residency at Arrowhead
Regional Medical Center. She is positioned to support mentorship
as an interviewer of the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM)
at UCLA Admissions Committee, and a committee member,
screener, and interviewer for Charles R. Drew Univesity (CDU)
School of Medicine Admission Committee and the CDU Physician
Assistant School. Additionally, she is a clinical skills preceptor for
medical students From DCU and DGSOM and physician assistant
students from and CDU.
She is the Faculty Advisor for the Flying Samaritans at UCLA and
volunteers once per month in impoverished clinics in Tijuana.
Since 2001, Dr. Loeza has volunteered and works at Venice Family
Clinic returning to the free clinic where she and her family had
received medical care as a child. She became a staff physician
working with the medically underserved community in West Los
Angeles (Service Planning Area 5) including homeless and
undocumented patients. As the Chief Medical Information Officer,
Dr. Loeza took on the role of implementing telehealth at the clinic
during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a mentor to medical students
and residents since 2000, she is dedicated to improving health
disparities and mentoring future physicians. She volunteers at
Homeboy industries in the tattoo removal clinic. Doctor Loeza is
the daughter of Mexican immigrants.
