Lorena Del Pilar Bonilla, MD is an Internal Medicine Board Certified physician serving in South Florida. She is Assistant Professor at FIU/Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. She has served as a teaching attending in the West Kendall Baptist Hospital – FIU Family Medicine Residency since its inception in 2013. Dr. Bonilla is a cofounder of Doctors For Camp Closure in Florida. She has collaborated with various immigrant advocacy groups to bring awareness to the community as well as government leaders on the health of immigrants in detention during the pandemic. She has published several opinion articles on the topic of immigrant health. As a Regional Advisor to the Southeast Regional Latino Medical Student Association she has served as a mentor and speaker educating medical students and residents on physician burnout, advocacy and wellness. She has joined vacunateya campaign to further support the overall health of her community.
